Productions There is a long interview between Mista Matt and TRMNDS at http://www.southwest-connection.com/. The discussion includes Trunk Music, the growing Baton Rouge music scene, and the upcoming albums Deuce & A Quarter and Third World 3. The following was taken from the interview: " What about the whole atmosphere of Baton Rouge, is it pretty much the same as any other city? Yeah I like it, I mean the rap scene is really starting to rise up, Max Minelli is doing his thing, Boosie is one of the top sellers throughout the South, T-Bo dropped his album its doing good, C-Loc and MC Nero both kind of paved the way for everybody in fact C-Loc out of jail now already working on his new album which is almost done. So really as far as a rap environment its looking really good around here." The "BIG DAWG" is back! Recently, C-Loc released his new solo album Block Burner. Block Burner contains 18 hot tracks and features Juvenile, Lil Boosie, Max Minelli, Happy Perez, J-Von, Trae, and Russell Lee. Most of the production was done by Happy Perez and C-Loc. The lead single, "We Ain't Goin Nowhere", which features Juvenile, is receiving rotation across the South. "Take A Picture" ,featuring Lil Boosie and Max Minelli is also receiving spins. Mike Frost from Automatik Media provided the artwork for Block Burner; check out his website at http://www.slfemp.com/. If you haven't picked the album up yet, Block Burner is available on the SCC STORE page. Look for Camp 5: Under That Old Law to be the next release from C-Loc Records/Camp Life Entertainment. Crazy's new album, Us Killing Us, is set to drop on July 6th under his own imprint, Breather Entertainment. It features Paul Wall, T-Bo, Young Bleed, and many more; Chaotic produced 3 cuts on the album. This is the only spot to get the latest news, concert info, album releases, and contests on Crazy. There is a contest where you can win one autographed copy of Us Killing Us, one autographed Breather Entertainment poster, and a Breather Entertainment t-shirt. "Hennessey and Weed" has received heavy rotation in the club, but "Shorty" will be the first video shot. After hearing Us Killing Us, this is Crazy's hottest album to date! After Third World: Part 2, the South Coast Coalition will re-release Third World: The Compilation and Southern Slang: The Album. The demand for all 3 albums was higher than expected. There will not be extensive promotion on the re-releases (compared to a brand new album), but instead the albums and distribution will promote itself. Stay posted for the release dates. Following the Third World Compilation series and Southern Slang: The Album... There will be a Best Of... South Coast Coalition Album. The album will contain songs from Southern Slang: The Album, Third World: The Compilation, Third World: Part 2, Trunk Music, and possibly some unreleased material. More news on Best Of... South Coast Coalition at a later date. The re-releases is strictly a business decision. These 4 albums are being put out NOT because of laziness, but because ALL 4 albums will be available in more stores and on more websites than before. (Not to mention all expenses are paid so it will be straight profit :) At CDUniverse.com, Trunk Music has remained in the Top 40 for CDs sold in the Southern Rap Category for 4 months straight. It's peak position was #3. Also, there is an album review on Trunk Music in the newest issue of Down South Connected. The following was taken from the review, "These guys are the hardest working artists/rappers in Baton Rouge. If they keep up with their consistency, they are going to break at some point and I wish them much success... I know you guys can hold it down on your own without the features so please give us, (your fans) an album that's just South Coast Coalition." This month, Lil Witness is finishing up the recording of his video for "Tear It Down". The video, directed by Chris Comeaux, is set in a mental hospital with a Gothika meets Fight Club format. The video will contain many special effects and speed changes; it should be complete by next month. After seeing most of the raw footage, the video will be very intense and professional. Check back next month for updates on the "Tear It Down" video including the cast list. "Tear It Down" is the lead single off of Lil Witness' album Real Life's Not Fake/Me & Mine. Lil Handy passed away last month on May 19th.; he was in a bad car accident and fell into a coma. Prayers go out to all his family and friends. Lil Handy was an upcoming rapper from Baton Rouge who had a big following in the Glen Oaks area. His debut album, Rap Hustlin, had just been completed and was set to drop in May. The album was moved back, but it will still be released this summer. Rap Hustlin features Turk, Young Bleed, Webbie, Box, and more. Production was provided by Mouse, Clever, and Kenoe. The first single, "Big Boi", is currently receiving rotation on Max 94.1; he is also on Box's lead single "Waste My Drink". Rap Hustlin will be the first release under Grind Tyme Entertainment. R.I.P. - Lil Handy Recently, Beelow dropped 2 albums within a month. The first was The Best Of Beelow which was dropped under Ballin Music Group. It's a collection of songs was his previous albums with the exception of the hit single "It's Whatever". As you already know, "It's Whatever" features C-Loc, Lil Boosie, and Max Minell and is still receiving heavy rotation across the Gulf Coast. Other hits include "Big Bodies", "Watch Dem Haters", and "Thuggin In The South". The second release, Thugz Gone Wild is a CD and DVD. Thugz Gone Wild consists of 17 tracks and features David Banner, Juvenile, C-Murder, Magic, Big Moe, Lil Boosie, C-Loc, Max Minelli, Lil Troy, Thug Addict, and Pla'boy. The DVD contains street fights, club fights, interviews, studio sessions, and more. You can check out Beelow's official websites at www.ThugzGoneWildcom and www.Beelow.net. Gangsta Musik, the new album from Trill Entertainment, is in stores now! This is the second collaboration album with Lil Boosie and Webbie (By the way, Ghetto Stories is still selling strong). Gangsta Musik contains 16 tight tracks and features UGK. After checking out the album, Webbie has really stepped his game up. The lead single "Show Ya Tattoos" was produced by Happy Perez and features Bun B; however, most of the album was produced by Mouse. Once again, King Yella provided the photography, and Visual Soulz provided the artwork. Also, be on the lookout for the following albums from Trill Entertainment: Lil Boosie - Boosie Bad Azz and Webbie - Savage Life. You can check out their official website at www.TrillEntertainment.net. The release of Box's debut album, InBoxicated, has been moved back to July. The reason for the delay is because of the return of Royale. Royale took a short vacation, but now he is back at it again. Box and Clever decided to cut 3 tracks and replace them with new ones; all 3 tracks were produced by Clever and feature Royale. After hearing the 3 new tracks, this was definitely a good move and improved the album (Royale is tighter than ever). Next month, we will post the new track listing along with the release date. InBoxicated will be available on the SCC STORE page. The show at Club La Vela in Panama City, FL with Chingy, Lil Witness, and S.C.C. is canceled due to financial disagreements. (Not on our part) |
